When it comes to the summer months, this is when people host guests the most. It’s no surprise when you consider it’s hotter, the sun goes down later and people are generally happier in the summer months – It’s a lot nicer having the sun shine on you, instead of having it rain on you!
Entertaining guests is something we all have to do at one point. Chances are you rotate it around your friendship group, meaning it will be your turn and hopefully your turn comes when the weather is hotter outside. When it’s hotter, you can have a BBQ, you could have a cocktail party or if you don’t want to risk the weather and being outside, you could cook a special meal for everyone inside.
Keep on reading for our guide on entertaining your guests this summer.
Host a summer BBQ
Get your BBQ out, your barbecue seasoning prepared and invite your friends and family members for a BBQ. BBQs are ideal as you can achieve great results without having to put as much effort in as if you were going to cook a four-course meal. With a BBQ you can go as complex or as simple as you like and you will still have a lovely meal that everyone will thank you for putting on.
Host a cocktail night
If you don’t have the time to cook but still want to invite friends over, you could host a cocktail night. Cocktail nights are something a lot of people enjoy as they get to enjoy drinks that may not normally drink at home. How many times do you make an Old Fashioned in your spare time, or do you have gin with a mixer as this is easier? When hosting a cocktail party, you can plan a selection of games which your guests can enjoy whilst sipping the mixtures you prepare.
Host a 4-course meal
Sometimes summer can be a little risky as the rain still appears now and then ruining your plans. If the area you live in is known to have rain in the summer, then instead of risking a BBQ or an outside cocktail night, put on a 4-course meal instead. 4-course meals are perfect as they are something different, you get to test your cooking skills and your guests will be impressed with the effort you have put in. When planning your 4-course meal, to take it to the next level, consider pairing wine with your courses. Alternatively, you could go down the route of pairing your courses with different cocktails. Cocktails are something different and can be very impressive.
